A Constitutional Convention
Our government is broken, you know it and we know it. And at the most inopportune time. We’re in an economic downturn, a jobs crisis, our infrastructure is crumbling, and China is set to overtake us as the worlds leading economy by 2026. We need to do something drastic. We have to do something drastic. At this point the status quo is more dangerous to our nation than the unknown.
That brings us to the means by which we can reinvent the United States Of America. By definition, can a failed institution fix itself? When, throughout history, has that happend? We can only think of one. In 1787 at the Constitutional Convention. Our founding fathers knew they needed to change the articles of confederation to have a functioning and globally competitive democracy. As a result, they created The Constitution of The United States of America. Now those founding fathers were smart guys. They imagined a situation like today where government stopped functioning and congress had no desire to fix itself. So they included the constitutional convention route, deciding that if 2/3 of the states, 34 to be exact, called for a convention, we could amend, rewrite, or throw out the constitution. Now that thought may seem scary at first. But is it worse than the alternative? Our government needs to be competitive and make decisions today, not tomorrow. Every day that it isn’t is another failure to the American people, and another missed opportunity for our children and grandchildren. We want red Americans and blue Americans not to stumble any further into this new century, but to take a great desperate leap forward. Together.
